    No connection. Software won't start.

I already wasted hours trying to make this junk work. Can't conect to server, can't start FXTA, nothing works.
Firewall disabled, Norton firewall is disabled.
Customer service sucks. For the price, it is a mockery. Consider returning.

Thanks to everyone who would take time and help.

Re: No connection. Software won't start.

    Hi FX -

Welcome! Let's see if we can help!

The one thing that I think of right off the bat is... is QuoteCenter running? QuoteCenter is your data feed so it has to be started 1st. MetaStock is the charting package so it is started second. Then you will install FXTA into MetaStock.... If you have already installed it then just get QC running and then open MS.

Now - If QC won't log in... did you sign the non-pro agreement?? You have to do this before the data service will start. Go to www.equis.com/agreements/quotecenter.aspx (you will have to log in to our website) then click I AGREE. Wait 14 minutes or so and it should be a piece of cake.

Let me know and I can try to sort this out from home this evening...

    :) M

    No connection. Software won't start.

    Hi Marilyn

All I see is a nice grey screen. I opened a GBP/USD pair. Now I can see a nice white screen. No charts.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong. BTW, I covered .PDF manuals downloaded along with the soft and signed that contract. That' the first thing to be done before files become available for download.

    Thanks.

Re: No connection. Software won't start.

Can you PM me your name (click on my name and then the PM link). I can check from here if you are not signed off on the agreement.
    Thanks - M

    No connection. Software won't start.

Yes, QC was running first. However, I would expect to see a message that I'm successfully conected and redy to run the Metastock. Insread I'm looking at some pinky web site. Looks more like Disney. I assume that green dot in the right upper corner means I'm connected, but still can't see any charts and FXTA.

Re: No connection. Software won't start.

:) Good - QC is running. Pinky website??? Looks like this???

BTW - if you click on File > Open Workspace there are some pretty cool default workspaces in there... Try the FOREX one.

But enough about QC - that's not why you are here.

OK - so when you open a chart it is blank? When you click on File > Open are you choosing Local Data or QuoteCenter to open the chart from - see second picture...

    No connection. Software won't start.

The second picture is a Pinky website.
The first picture shows exactly what I did to open GBP/USD pair. Remember, I read the instructions.
That is how I'm getting that nice no-charts-white-screen.

    FX,

Try to open a daily chart ... Do you get any data? If not what is the error you get?

Re: No connection. Software won't start.

    Patrick,

I don't think i know what you are talking about. I don't see any sign of FXTA. It is installed but I can't start it, unless it should selfstart. I explored options i have and buttons. How do I open daily charts? I only can open currency pairs, there are many, but I see a blank white window. NO CHARTS.

Re: No connection. Software won't start.

Let's not worry about the FXTA plug in for now ... We will get to that later.

So you started quotecenter and then you started Metastock right?

Well now, in metastock, click on file, new, chart, on the left side click on the Quotecenter Button, and at the bottom left change the periodicity to daily. In the list of symbols just select one of them and click on open.

Now tell me what happens, specifically what the error message is if there is one.

When I open one pair it shows nothing. When i open a second pair it opens in a split window and shows the chart.
It doesn't look it is moving anywhere and looks weird.
Actually, it is moving. I thing there is a signal, but why FXTA doesn't work and expert advisor won't start?

Re: No connection. Software won't start.

You must have some messed up smart charts ... Close metastock and quotecenter then click on start, search, select all files or folders and in the name type:

    *.MWS

Delete all the files you will find.
Then open quotecenter and metastock again and open one chart ... do you see the data now?

Deleted, restarted QC and Metastock. I see the chart. Solid, not moving.

That's normal because you opened a daily chart, now open up a new chart but this time change the periodicity to 5 minutes...

What time it was when you were able to fix your problem? I'm only home after 7:30-8PM EST. Customer service is not available at this time.

Re: No connection. Software won't start.

for te fxta expert you need to attach to the chart.
To attach an expert once you have a chart open, click on tools, expert advisor, select the expert you want to attach, click on the attach button and then click on ok.

There are training videos for this stuff in the Meta Flix forum ;)

Re: No connection. Software won't start.

    Exellent :)

Now you should be able to play with the FXTA plug in ... Though i would recommend that you first watch the MetaStock Training videos ( at least the first one ) and then watch the FXTA training video.

    Re: Meta Fliz Collection

The plug in just adds functionality to MetaStock - it doesn't exist as a separate thing.

Right click on your chart and choose Apply Template. Then pick your preferred one from the list... should start with !FXTA or something like that. You will recognize it on the list. Then click ok. Now your charts should start looking a little more familiar.

Remember - it is best to paper trade for a while until you feel you understand why you are getting the signals you are getting.
