    Re: search twice delete once

Metastock Fx advantage: slugish funtion...When I open an alignment layout . Metastock pop up " having truble keeping up with operations becaus of many charts open or complex formulas."....I have never had this problem. I open lots of charts. When I close the alignment layout the problem stops. If I open( any time frame) a chart with a native signal layout I do not have the problem.....Question : Does my computer need more memory to run the alignment layout or is this problem related to something else?

    Re: search twice delete once

The performance is largely CPU related. A faster front side bus (motherboard) and CPU will definitely help.

I don't agree with you ... Let's be honest the amount of data required for the fxta plug in is enormous, the calculations are based on very large periodicities ( daily, weekly ) ... If I had to choose between a CPU/Motherboard upgrade or a hard drive upgrade I would most certainly go for a 15000 rpm hard drive ...

But then again I would not even bother with either solutions as people will want to open multiple charts and apply the fxta plugin on each one of them and no computer ( at least that is what I believe ) will handle that smoothly ...
I might be wrong but I'm stubborn :D

    Re: search twice delete once

I was pretty sure a live chart is stored in RAM until closed/reopened which I thought would limit the HDD activity. Also with "Recalculate Expert Live" unchecked, the actual formulas should only be crunching once every 5 minutes and the FXTA .DLL seems to take about 5 seconds to do this.

What I have experienced is that with each new tick of data into the live bar, all the Expert Symbols on the chart are being redrawn or refreshed, which is the cause for the massive CPU hit. The plug-in is only indirectly responsible because the more bars of data that are in the chart, the more expert symbols are being displayed (bounces and crosses, etc).

I see this as more of a chart inefficiency than a plug-in inefficiency, it's just the plug-in brings it to light by having so many data points and so many expert symbols. Try turning off all the crosses and bounces in the Expert Properties and this could also improve performance in my opinion.

I tested some of the performance on my system which is:

-AMD Athlon XP 2600+ (2.08ghz) w/333 Front Side Bus
-1 GB Corsair PC3200 DDR RAM
-Western Digital Raptor SATA 10k RPM 36 GB Hard Drive

If you reduce the load options to 10,000 records instead of 20,000 records and turn off some of the expert symbols that you may not need (You can watch the FXTA indicator for the bounces/crosses) you might be able to get away with 4 charts on a very strong system :). However, some may disagree with using the plug-in this way. This is enough data to get the weekly time frame but not the monthly. It should also be noted that 20,000 records is not always enough to get the monthly signal. I had to go up to 25,000 records to get the monthly, so those using 20,000 are just getting a big CPU hit for nothing really, as they're still not getting the monthly signal.

    Equis dissappointed me

I Have reduced the load to 10,000 and turned off experts. It has improved performance. However ,this should not be necessary. I think this product has functional problems. Furthermore, this extrapolation of higher time frames using the 5 minute chart seems to me absurd .It would be better to display the higher time frames and then place the expert symgols on. The way it works now I feel forced to work with 5 minute charts.......THis could be just a coinncicidance, but the " FX TA indicator seems to me virtually the same as FX made easy. I can obtain similar results by using a line chart of the close of the market and looking for crosses on a 3 bar EMA.and then buying or selling when an occilator indicates an overbought or oversold condition. Frankly, I expected much more from equis. I have used metastock for 3 years and it is an ecellent software. But this expensive subscription is moving equis in the wrong direction. The 4x made easy way. A lot of fees and little substance. I will be cancelling by trial subscription.

    Re: Equis dissappointed me

You can actually trade higher time frames. FXTA Method 1 - Native Signals expert can be attached to charts up to 60 minutes. It will draw red and green vertical lines on the chart. These lines indicate your Buy/Sell signals on non-5 minute time frames.

The FXTA Method 1 - All Targets Layout will open up a main 5 minute window and several smaller charts of other time frames (10,15,30,45,60). You will want to make sure Auto-Tiling is turned off or it will make this layout look very ugly (Window>Auto-Tile).

I believe there are a number of differences with the FXTA Indicator. Forex Made Easy does not display values for the lines and the diamonds. The FXTA Indicator updates real-time, whereas FME's indicator does not. I do not believe angle and separation have anything to do with the FXTA indicator, and the crosses of the indicator will not be the same if you were to watch them side by side.
