    Installing MS 11

    While installing MS 11 for QuoteCenter I received the following error message.

    Error while renaming "Packages" folder @ C"\ProgramFiles\Equis\QuoteCenter\Packages
    Please correct before contiuning.

    Any ideas?

    In trying to work through this I appear to have installed MS but the QuoteCenter does not appear to be correctly installed. When installing MS I received a message that my formula file is full. The program continued to install and seems to be working. Did it not install all of the new formulas or were some of the old formulas deleted to make room for the new ones?

    Thanks, Bill

    I had two or three Quote Center installation errors while installing MS 11 but I didn't pay any attention to them.  And the program works just fine !

    Try uninstalling MS 10 before MS 11 or try installing MS 11 in a new folder, like C"\ProgramFiles\Equis\Metastock 11.  Before that though, you should export your formulas/explorations/etc through the Formula Organizer and then import them in MS 11.  Be aware that formulas using dlls might not be exported.

    Re: Installing MS 11

    Thanks.

    My QuoteCenter does not appear to have installed correctly. I use QuoteCenter to download a handful on end of day quotes and I get an error message that QuoteCenter is not available.

    Regarding my custom formulas, it appears that MS did not install new formulas, as the file size of MS 10 formulas and MS 11 formulas is the same. None of the new formulas are available to me. I will have to delete enough existing formulas to allow for installation of new formulas.

    Does that mean you'll lose your formulas ?

    I'm not a specialist in metastock troubleshooting, But I'd suggest you to :

    1 - export your formulas through the formula organizer  (create a special folder like C:\backup\metastock 2009-09-01);
    2 - uninstall every version of metastock & Quote Center ;
    3 - delete the C:\program files\equis folder ;
    4 - make a clean install of MS 11 ;
    5 - import your old formulas through the formula organizer.

    Re: Installing MS 11

    Unfortunately the issue with indicators will require running the "Organizer" and exporting/deleting formulas to make room.  You might want to consider freeing at least 100 to be safe, although you can probably get away with less.

    As for the QuoteCenter problem, we do occasionally see odd permission issues where our installation is not able to create the folder it is trying to.  Try browsing to the folder mentioned above (C:\Program Files\Equis\QuoteCenter) and try manually creating a folder named Packages.  If it lets you try reinstalling again.

    Re: Installing MS 11

    Thanks Justin.

    I deleted indicators several times until the new formulas installed. Probably a little over 100 formulas in total.

    Making a Packages folder did not solve the problem. I had to have an Equis tech support person operate my machine during installation; it became necessary to download a Microsoft utility to clean up my old installation and I also had to modify the User Account settings in the Control Panel.

    Seems to be a Vista problem.
