I have tried the following:

1.  Delete old RSS (they were still showing up as of this AM).

2.  Delete new RSS, then re-add.

3.  Delete cookies and clear cache, both with IE and Privacy Keeper.

4.  Reboot, chkdsk & defrag.  (FYI:  WinXP, IE 6, auto-updated.)

5.  Two (2) repeats of items 2 thru 4.

No change; problems are both intermittent and not consistent:

1.  Section content doesn't display (no new items).

2.  Section title doesn't display.

3.  Section COMPLETELY MISSING from the RSS section.

4.  New content is not shown; only "week ago" stuff.

In all cases, one Equis RSS section may work, while another doesn't.  Also, they may all work, or none.  There are NO PROBLEMS with other RSS sections (non-Equis).

All sections showed up once this AM.  I changed the parameters to display the last 20 items from any time period, and ALL the Equis RSS sections disappeared.

In order for this to work, you would need to manually reload the feed.  Read below for more information:

Why is My Yahoo!, My MSN, or My Google not updating my RSS feed?

When a user adds your feed to their My MSN, My Yahoo!, or My Google account, the information is not retrieved directly from your RSS feed. Instead, a cached version of the feed is displayed.

The Search Engines will update the cache according to their own schedule. How often it is updated is unfortunately out of our control and yours, too.

The RSS feed on your site is updated instantly. Subscribers using RSS reader software, rather than one of the Search Engine services, will see the update the next time their RSS reader updates the feed. The frequency with which their software checks for updates is user-defined, but it is typically updated at least once per day (or even once per hour) for most RSS reader software.

Generally, the more users you have who are adding your feed to their My MSN, My Yahoo!, or My Google accounts, the more often the Search Engines will update the cache of your feed.

The best approach is to keep building content and promote your RSS feed. As your subscriber base grows, the updates will become more frequent.

This applies to our feeds as well; both syndicated and not as well as secured and not.  Perhaps this will be different when ATOM support is added to CS.  I don't know.  We'll have to wait and see.  In the meantime, updates work fine in MS RssReader and NewsGator.  That's the two that I own and use.  FWIW, Google IG updates, but only after 1-2 days.  I understand that the more people that subscribe to the RSS feed, the faster it will update.

What, exactly, does "manually reload" mean?

1.  Delete the feeds & recreate them?  (Problems defintely occur/repeat when doing this - they disappear, lack title/content, etc.)

2.  Hit the "refresh" button?

The Yahoo "Publisher's Guide" didn't shed a lot of light on the subject -- but, has the Equis RSS feed been checked with the "Feed Validator"?

Yes.

Yes, feedvalidator.org reports valid feeds, with a warning about relative URL references.  This is the same report received from feeds pulled straight off of the CS developers forum.

It's not an Equis issue. It might not even be a CS issue.  From what I could find out, it is a search engine-based reader issue.  If you are able to come across more information, please don't hesitate to post it here. I'll be glad to follow through with any changes that I can make on this end.  In the mean time, I'll run it by our own Development team.

OK, have deleted & recreated.  The feeds appeared, but there are two oddities:

1.  They are not in reverse date order.  In fact, there does not seem to be a rhyme or reason to the order.

2.  Once I tried to change the number of entries displayed and remove the date restriction (ie:  Change from "past week" to "any date"), the feeds disappeared.

I'm still messing around with this.  I added two new ping servers to our list (we now have six).  I think that Google liked it... or maybe it's my imagination... can you check MyYahoo? I don't have an account.  The way I've been testing is: Add the Test Forum feed to MyYahoo/Google/MSN, etc and then go to the test forum and write some new threads.  What used to take 1-2 days for Google to update is now taking about 2 hours.  That's a huge difference.  Maybe we'll fix this yet.

I've deleted all RSS feeds, added the "Test" feed, as well as others.

The "Test" feed now shows up.  However, if I attempt to change the time/quantity options, I get the error message from Yahoo:

"Oops!  We have run into a temporary problem retrieving your page, please try again later.()

Thank you for your patience."

FWIW, the "Test" post hasn't show up yet, at this time.

BTW, you might WANT to open up a test account on Yahoo -- their tech people have been helpful in the past, at least for websites.  (Although I did switch to GoDaddy -- cheaper & even better customer service:)

 

P.S.  That DEL key isn't working again, on this post.  Neither does CTRL-X (Cut), although CTRL-V (Paste) and CTRL-X (Undo) work.
