    Anti-aliasing of trendlines and indicators

Could you please consider implementing anti-aliasing of trendlines and indicators in MetaStock charts?

You can see a good example of how anti-aliasing makes charts look better here.

Or maybe there's a setting somewhere in MetaStock that I'm not aware of?

    Thanks,
    Bill

    Hi Bill,

    Welcome to the Forum.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-aliasing#Examples:
In digital signal processing, anti-aliasing is the technique of minimizing the distortion artefacts known as aliasing when representing a high-resolution signal at a lower resolution. Anti-aliasing is used in digital photography, computer graphics, digital audio, and many other domains.

Unfortunately, what one person thinks looks better is not necessarily a view shared by everyone else.  While it is true that when looking at the entire market history, some of the lines, indicators etc may look a little "chunky" which anti-aliasing MIGHT be able to resolve, anti-aliasing makes things look WORSE the more you zoom in.  On that same wiki page, look at Figure 2.  The alias picture is a lot clearer than the anti-aliased picture when viewed close up.  There are enough grey areas in trading already without making lines more fuzzy when viewed at close range.

If you are concerned that some lines appear to "jump" around and look a little jagged, then I suggest this is a symptom of the combination of graphics-card, monitor and resolution you have on your computer.  Try increasing the screen resolution to the max your monitor can handle, or buying a new monitor and/or graphics-card.
