    Y-axis width

Is there a way to enlarge the Y-axis scale width?

I find boring to read some indices (Dow Jones, Wilshire, Nikkei, Bovespa... and S&P-MIB), which are five figures numbers, shown in small font format; or, alternatively, divided by 10, or 100.

A method to enlarge the Y-axis width, in order to grant to show the index value with a proper font, would be fine.

Am I the only to find this trouble annoying?

    Re: Y-axis width

Choose menu; Format > Y-Axis(left or right) > Scale (tab) > Font button and choose your font, size and colour.  The formatting is saved with the template information.

    Re: Y-axis width

C'mon, wabbit, I'm fully aware of this feature... :-)

Just, I wonder if there's a way to enlarge the scale width, in order to show a five-figures number like the Dow Jones Industrial Average with a larger font (say: Arial 18), without having to divide by 100 the number.

Take the charts attached: in the first chart I choosed Arial bold 10: this is the maximum font size allowed by the scale width. As you may realize, should I resize the chart for publishing purposes, its left scale is almost unreadable, unless you own a magnifying glass.

So I have to upgrade the font size to 18; but in this way the scale figures are cutted in hundreds. So I wonder if there's a way to plot a 18+ size font without suffering from this cutting, by enlarging the Y-scale width. A well known competitor program does allow this easily...

    Re: Y-axis width

Sorry, misunderstood what you were looking for...

In that case my answer is, I don't think the width of the axis area can be changed??

If you were really confident that you knew what you were doing, you could go for a wander through the windows registry and see if the width is set there?  Take the usual precautions first though, backup, backup, backup etc...

Sorry I could not be of more assistance.

P.S. An alternative might be to use an OLE link and publish the chart in another package?  Excel? Matlab? etc?

    Re: Y-axis width

    Hi,

it looks like such a basic feauture, that I wonder why Equis didn't implement it for a long time in our beloved Metastock.

So I have to accept a cutted figure if I need to use a large font into a standardized width. And suffice to say that this task could be done by picking and dragging the left/right margin of the chart toward its center, in order to allowing a wider space for the Y-axis. Another input for the wishing list...
