Hi all,

I'm experiencing the exact same behavior as this topic:

However I don't have Norton AV. I've disabled windows firewall and Symantic AntiVirus Auto-Protect and still the QuoteCenter hangs on 'Starting data retrieval'.

I've installed a packet sniffer and that seems to indicate that QuoteCenter is doing *something* over TCP for the first 30min or so, but after that it stops any network traffic and just sits there like a useless lump.

What might I be doing wrong??

- Didn't work out of the box.
- Started with v9, updated to v10.1 and still the same behaviour
- Internet connection is ADSL2
- No known error reports (yet - I'll let it sit over night and see what happens. I'll likely get a few viruses for my trouble what with this completely unprotected net connection sitting around.)

Ok I can give you a little more information :)

When QuoteCenter is started up, it does actually talk to the download servers and is responded to. After it gets the the 'Starting data retrieval' point it starts exchanging packets with 192.165.218.19 (ISP: SE-REUTERS) for 15-20min:

It does the above (Reuters sends PSH, Acknowledge and QuoteCenter responses Achnowlege) repeatedly until Reuteres sends through a Acknowledge, Finish packet:

2118    522.934953    192.165.218.19    <local IP>    TCP    7983 > vrts-ipcserver [FIN, ACK] Seq=61921 Ack=816057 Win=25776 Len=0

After this point it simply hangs. I've closed down Symantic AntiVirus completely and this seems to have no effect.

Absolutely nothing happens in the window, all fields are left blank except 'Characters Per Second' which gives a completely different number each time I start QuoteCenter (as low as 7172, as high as 50544).
