Well, I don't think the chore is all that big, but perhaps I'm not fully understanding what you are asking. I live in ignorant bliss. There are about 36 indicator paths to change to the data on your computer. You will have to do this anyway. Once the paths are set, you should be good to go. The path includes the symbol name. Maybe Jose could share the URSC-US v2.0 overview sheet with you. The point is, there will a certain amount of front-end setup time required no matter what your data source is.

I have not purchased this item from Jose yet. I purchased the MACDH Divergence package and his other kit was sort of next on my wishlist. It seems that the symbols are based on end of day Reuters Data Link data, so I wanted to find out if anyone is using the package with Quote Center Data and if modifications are required. Time will tell.

hey bill.... seems at this point the answer to your first question is a no..... or at least there has not been a yes yet....

not familar with jose's deal so pardon my ignorance if this question makes no sense, was wondering if your talking about applying it on real time data or end of day.... the sticky part of qc data is in the realtime issue.... once its downloaded/stored localy its anybodys data.... in other words metastock 9 will open charts made with quotecenter 9.1 data.... so if jose's deal will work with 9 it should work with 9.1 .... just perhaps not in real time.... and i say perhaps cause i'm not sure of his deal.....

most of the difficulties surrounding 9.1 qc data vs 9 and previous versions are easily overcome.....h

Thanks. At the time I converted to Quote Center, Equis said that they would reinstate my Data Link if I needed to do so, but the approach that they preferred was to switch to Quote Center and do away with the Data Link. I did not know that there would be so many problems, including the fact that the symbols are different, that every night when I download from the Quote Center I must first delete the previous day's data or I will not receive any data. This is a known bug that they said will be fixed within a few months. Also, the volume is no longer divided by 100 with the Quote Center so I had to adjust the volume on all the securities stored on my hard drive. And finally, in order to use the Broad Market experts, it is necessary to convert those symbols to Quote Center symbols.

What to do now? If I reinstate the Data Link, I will have to adjust all of the volume on my security files, once again. I waited many months before converting to Quote Center, and am surprised that the data and symbols are not interchangeable. #-o

I guess most people who switched kept Reuters Data Link and are still using it, otherwise, I would think that there would be a lot more discussion about this issue.

Hmm...

It is my understanding that all QC users can get a DataLink account setup for free... just because of issues like these. I'm going to double-check this for you. I know it's not what you're asking for, but it's all I can come up with.

BillT, I guess that if there was a Quote Center to Standard & Poor's GICS (and normal exchange symbols) code conversion tool, it may be possible to convert the 9000-stock GICS database that comes with the URSC tool-kit.

But wouldn't it be easier if Equis followed the established standard? #-o

I sent an e-mail to Jose and he told me that he was not familiar with Quote Center Data. I assume that it is possible to manually revise the symbols in his add-on, however, I was curious if anyone tackled this problem and how much effort is required to convert the symbols. I asked Equis if there is a spreadsheet that relates the Data Link symbols to the Quote Center symbols. They told me that they don't have one available, but if I send them a list of symbols, they would tell me what the corresponding Quote Center symbols would be. I imagine that eventually Jose will offer a Quote Center version, but I did not want to purchase it if I can't use it. I no longer have Data Link and rely solely on Quote Center Data.

I read this earlier, Bill... hoping that Jose would jump in. I have the URSC and it is fine with DataLink, but other options would need to be addressed by him (at this point) until the 2 data sets standardize their symbols. I also had this same compatibility issue with Greg Morris' indicators. He had at one point mentioned looking into making a bridge station compatible version.

MetaStock QuoteCenter can oftentimes use the RIC (Reuters Instrument Code) within QuoteCenter by using \\\\RIC\\ in front of the Reuters symbol. This does not work in MetaStock Professional, but only within the QuoteCenter application.

URSC Toolkit and Quote Center

Is anyone using the URSC Toolkit with Quote Center Data. It seems that the toolkit is written for Reuters Data. How big a chore is it to convert the symbols from Reuters to Quote Center symbols?

While we are on that subject, does anyone know why Reuters Datalink and Quote Center, both owned by Reuters, use different symbols? :x
