Eurocurrency FX symbols

The Datalink Symbols for Euro FX must not be correct. I have tried them all and get no data except for the crosses with "R" as the 1st letter work but I need the straight currency. CME's symbol is EC but this also does not get any data. I had similar problems with Gold. Can anybody enlighten me. Thanks

Premium data and esignal data - different volumes

Hi guys, I have just finished a trial with www.premiumdata.net but have decided that I require intraday data on an ongoing basis so I have subscribed to esignal.

My problem is that having updated a few of the symbols that were created and updated by premium data with the esignal datafeed I notice the volumes are massively different. For example for GLD:

volume on 10/11/2009 (premium data) 15.9 million
volume on 13/11/2009 (esignal data) 172k

This seems really odd...can anyone explain why this might be?

Also, moving forward, I would like to maintain a set of symbols as local data so that I can run explorations much faster. Is there any better way of doing it other than to kick off the downloader each day and download them?...ie something (or a setting) that will just do this automatically?

If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

By the way, I have to say that if premium data offered intraday/live data for US stocks I would definitely have stayed with them and would definitely recommend them for anyone wanting EOD data. Great service, really easy to use and good data. Also, great value compared to other suppliers!

Volume data for indices

I'm using EOD data from Reuters, but there is no volume data for the indices.

I consider volume an essential part of my trading, so does anyone know where I can get volume data quickly and easily?

And also, where historical data might be available?

GBP and NZD problem

I have subscription to FX data and last month i have a problem with GBP and NZD. The problem is that GBPUSD and NZDUSD can not be updated every monday till 5-50 am gmt, so i see no new bars in metastock and unchanged figures in quotecenter since friday's close.
Then all crosses with gbp and nzd are calculated with those constant figures, so i see wrong charts for all crosses GBP and NZD. After 5-50 am gmt everything goes fine.
And now (5 NOV 6-27 am gmt) both of them are not updated in metastock and quotecenter since yesterday's 5-59 pm gmt. I have no idea what to do with this, so maybe anyone can help me, please.

p.s so now (5 NOV 6-31 am gmt) both of them are updated, but there is still gap since yesterday, so the problem is not solved

free EOD data for metastock

Hi guys,

I ws wondering how could I get eod metastock data for free?
One of the method would be getting CSV files for yahoo and converting them using metastock. However, this is very time consuming... I found some programs on the web (e.g. HQuote) but they are not freeware. I am sure such a program that simply downloads data and converts it to mtastock format should exisit...

Another possibility would be using eod.com, but it gives only quotes for a single day at a time...

Does any1 know about such free one?

Organize Johanesburg Stock Exchange data by sector - Reuters Datalink

Is there any way of obtaining a mapping table of my *.DAT files to the underlying Symbol or Security name for the data it contains? I don't mind constructing this table manually if that is the only method. I had a quick look inside the Master file but that is binary and I have no knowledge on how to access it.

Any advice gratefully received.

how to convert a file with .hst format into a metastock format

Hi,

I use metatrader as a trading platform and I can export charts from the platform in   a    .hst (metaquotes) format .Do you   know which converter is the most appropriate for converting a file with   .hst format into a   metastock format ?
I think that    the metastock downloader has not got any capabilities to do this .

Symbol update error - invalid patch file

I am using Downloader for Windows v9.0 and Metastock 9.0 EOD. This is my first attempt to update the symbol database on my laptop - ordinarily I copy my data from my desktop, but the desktop recently died. The error I get updating the symbol database both in Metastock and in Downloader: is "Invalid patch file sym90common.rtp." The file itself contains the following message: "Bad Request (Invalid Header Name)".

Note that Downloader works fine for downloading prices - just cannot update the symbol database.

Would welcome a solution..... Thank you!

Updating Local Data

I have set up a number of local security files and have been trying to update the prices via the Downloader. However out of a total of say 60 files only perhaps 10 will update while the others will display an error message of "no data received". It also seems fairly random which ones are updated and which ones are not so I don't believe it is a problem with my symbols. I am using QuoteCentre. Any ideas where the problem is?

NSE and MCX and some more exchanges data not upgating

i am subscribed to NSE MCX NCDEX data .all was fine till 1-oct-09.from 3rd oct mcx and nse are not updating. Beside all symbols in market watch (c) is coming. Even is cash symbols its same.No contract has expired.

To check further i added BSE and Pakistan data also, as i am not subscribed to they it show -delay beside those symbols ,but still (c) was written beside them also and nothing was updating

please let me know what is the problem!

Symbol Database Update Problem

I shouldn't have updated my symbol database..... I trade German stocks and it seems that many of the symbols for Xetra traded stocks have been removed. For example BASF is traded with the ticker de;BASF and de;BASX However de;BASX has now been removed and I really need this and the other similar symbols. Any suggestions as to how I can get these back?

How Do I Update Data?

I'm just getting started with MetaStock. I have the subscription plan. When I plot a stock it only shows the plot back ast far as late 2007. How do I update the stock data so I can view a graph back to 1990. I tried to use the Downloader but I just don't understand how to do this. Can someone lead me on the right path? Thanks.

Australian EOD Data Providers

I am possibly looking for an ASX EOD data provider. Having searched this forum the main contenders seem to be Norgate's Premium Data and JustData's BodhiGold. A lot of those threads were a little old so I'm just checking to see what other users that get ASX data are currently using and whether they would recommend those providers for MetaStock data.

Local Data v DataLink

Hi all,

I have just purchase MetaStock 11 with the Reuters DataLink. I am just wondering if there are any major advantages to downloading data to use as local data over accessing the data remotely via DataLink. At first glance it appears that there is no need to download all that data and store it on my PC when I can access it quicker and easier using DataLink. I am sure there must be some sort of advatage to using it locally though. I am hoping some more experienced users can help me out with some possible personal preferences as to which they prefer and why or reasons why you would/would not use one over the other.

Also as an aside do you need a subscription to access both downloadable data and the remote DataLink data?

Extracting Test Result Data

Hello guys and gals

Is there any way to extract EST results data in bulk into Excel? I am looking to filter optimized results by:

1. gross profit/abs(gross loss)

2. max consecutive losers

3. max consecutive winners

4. max drawdown

among others...

This is data not displayed in the first Results screen in EST. I would have to open each test result one-by-one, copy/paste each field into Excel, etc... for even a modest number of results, this would be extremely cumbersome, time-consuming and error-prone, not worth the effort.

This data exists and must be already stored somewhere (perhaps in the ST_DATA file?). Is it possible to retrieve it and export it into Excel?

The downloader crashing Metastock 11

I am trying to download the data for the US market for the past 10 years by sector and the downloader is crashing again and again. I thought the data is too much so reduce to one sector by secor and still keep on crashing
I could see in the event viewer that qcenter is crashing again and again with the following error.

Is anybody having the same issue. is there any downtime they notify the users and how about extending the days we are not able to download the data? I am sure they will not be late chraging us every month.

RT data not updating

I use Metastock Pro 10.1 with Quotecentre and European package with real time London Exchange. In the past two days I can't get any real time updates and any open chart has to be manually reset to even give EOD update (even that won't work with every chart, some are stuck on 20/08/2009). I've emailed Equis but thought maybe somebody could help me out in the meantime.

I've checked through forum questions and tried everything suggested, even reloaded Metastock in case a file or something was corrupted. My internet speed is fine (Line speed 7,76 Mbps and download speed 970 KB/s). Tested modem/virus software for usual open ports and firewall exceptions but nothing works.

I remember when I use to use Metastock EOD with Reuters Datalink that a similar data problem turned out to be an issue over data supply between Equis and Reuters which lasted a few days, so maybe it is the same thing and nothing to do with my computer etc.........though there is no alert posted on Equis to that effect.

I've spent hours trying to work this out ..hope someone has a fresh insight.

Could anybody tell me how to remove "expert advisor warning", using V10.1 RT, found a "expert advisor warning" on the screen when updated rt data from yahoo via the software RTQdownloader, have a 20 portfolio and set automatically update every 45 seconds.

Data Accuracy: Reuters vs Yahoo vs MSN

Hi all,

I have done a cross check for US market EOD data using Reuters Datalink vs Yahoo vs MSN (Have not tried Quote.com).

And to my surprised, i found that there are quite a number of data inaccurately displayed by Yahoo (as i cross check the data with my broker as well).

Does anyone out there encounter the same thing? Does that mean Free Data feed provider e.g. Yahoo has data reliability issue?

Maybe you get what you pay for is right? Please feedback your findings. Thanks a lot in advance!

Hello, i'm new around here, and just getting started with Metastock.

Is it possible to conveniently export metastock securities data for multiple symbols to an excel file, and get the data for each symbol on a different worksheet within the same excel file? (without doing a lot of manual cut/copy/paste operations).
