Could someone please help why I am having the following message in Enhanced System Tester?
"The following runtime errors were encountered while executing the Buy Signal formula:11 Divide By Zero Errors. "
I am using "PS StochRSI" to test the data... It sounds like a division to zero is happening during one of the calculation but I am unable to put my finger on where and what data is causing the problem. I have tested the data using The Downloader's Test utility, unfortunately it did not report any problem at all...

License Error after driver installation

Hi,

I am using Metastock 11 Realtime. Yesterday I installed few new driver. Now following Error occurse while I want to launch MS: "Originally licensed on a different computer."
It is inpossible to launch MS or the control activation... Un-installing and re-installing takes no effects to my problem.

I talked to my local purchaser (Sharework) and they will remove the online license so that i can register online after a succesful installation, but that wont be fix the problem I do have on my local machine yet.

What can I do? Are there some regestry entries or files I do have to delete manually? I am strongly dependet on MS and now I can not work...

Please help me out!

Help with crashed metastock

I am hoping someone may be able to help me. I do back up on a regular basis however like most things there is always something missing since the last backup.

Today I had my laptop have a bit of a melt down.

First up it stopped Metastock in the middle of some system development and basically closed down.

Then the computer shut itself down and Metastock along with it. After attempting to restart Metastock, I got the message...

Abnormal program termination

I have managed to get the computer started again (appears to be a heat related issue) but I cannot access Metastock to back up my work.

I would really appreciate some help to get Metastock back up and running to capture the work I have done in the last two days. I do have access to my desktop computer which is running the second license of version 10.0 EOD if that is of any help.

I have deleted all of the ~*.* & *.TMP files from the stock data area. and Metastock still won't run

Metastock V11 upgrade error with Rad Chadelier exit

Hi I am hoping some one can help me help a friend who is living in a remote location so I cannot get access to his machine to look.

After upgrading version 10.1 (Recent purchase) to version 11.0 which appeared to work ok, as he could close and open metastock after the upgrade, he tried to install the Rad Chandelier trailing stop from www.tradernexus.com

After running the executable he now gets the following message and cannot open Metastock.

MetaStock License Required
---------------------------
Unable to install Windows Service.

I know the trailings stop was developed for up to version 10.x and dont know if there are compatability issues with version 11.0 (yes I will follow up with them as well) but would be interested to know if there is a known issue that you can help me out.

Any help on what to do next would be greatly appreciated thank you.

I upgraded to Metastock Pro yesterday. The installation seemed to be fine and when I opened it I didn't notice any problems. However today when I try to open Metastock it gives me the error message "Unknown Error # :-83" and will not open. Any ideas what I can do to solve the problem?

On other thread Justin posted a potential solution below. However my system (Vista) doesn't appear to have this problem. However if I try to start the AST as described it says "Error 2 The system cannot find the file specified". Is this normal or does it indicate a problem?

I'm a little lost with no working version of Metastock at the moment.

Error 83

This error can occur any time the AST Service cannot start. This error seems specific to 10.1c. Open the Services section of Windows (Start-->Run-->Services.MSC) and double click on the AST Service. Make sure the Startup Type is set to Automatic and that the Path to Executable is set correctly. Sometimes the Path to Executable will have two backslashes in the path, i.e. C:\Windows\System32\\astsrv.exe. The backslash must be removed. The way to do this is to close the Services and open the Registry Editor (StartàRunàRegedit). Make sure to left-click on My Computer (So that you are starting at the top of the Registry) and press Ctrl-F. In the Find box, type \\astsrv.exe and click Find Next. Each time it finds this, double click on the registry entry and remove one of the backslashes, then click Ok. Press F3 to Find Next and repeat these steps until it is finished searching the Registry. Go back to the Services section and try to Start the AST Service.

Metastock 11 error message

Password error: DBC Data Manager reports "DM Startup".
Any ideas what causes this?

I have just upgrade my op system to Vista 32 and after reinstaling Metastock 10.1 and activating all was well till last night when I tried to open the program I immediatley get the above error.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall 10.1 but the same error message occurs on trying to open the program after a successful install..

Any help on this will be much appreciated

System Tester Date Error

I am getting the following error when inserting dates in the simulation dates and can't seem to get passed it:

Error: The specified ‘From’ date falls outside the range of the selected local data

I am trying to run my test over certain periods in the past - doing specific periods at a time going back to 2004.

No matter what dates I put in here it gives me the same error.

Any help would be much appreciated

if you get this error on an install of ANY Metastock program here is the FIX!!!

I spend many hours myself working this out... Equis does not even know how to do this properly so don't call - just read.

I have Vista X64 bit version so this was more tricky on mine. So if you have x64 bit of anykind do ALL these steps... 32 bit just do these two.

Type this in start\run - you do NOT need a elevated command prompt for this process. Type in the
the code string (once you see if show up above there in the search go ahead and click it)... you should get "succeeded" do this for all!

32 bit & 64 bit do these

regsvr32 c:\Windows\System32\atl.dll

regsvr32 c:\Windows\System32\msxml4.dll

and do these too for 64 bit operating systems!!!

regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msxml4.dll

regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\atl.dll

You should get a msg that says suceeded. You need that for all that apply to your Op system. If you don't get suceeded msg.. you did it wrong or need to reinstall those dll s in the proper location as above folders and locations.

EQDATSRV will not start when XP updates (EDIT: changed KB) KB968389 is installed?

Hey folks,

after the most recent round of Windows updates the Equis Data Server/File Servers do not seem to want to start.

This appears to be related to MS Windows updates (EDIT: KB968389, not KB960859 and KB971657); as removing them allows the data server to start/run properly on my installed instance (and allowing the updates to be reinstalled results in the error reappearing).

Anyone else seen this type of behaviour?

Just fired up my Metastock 10.1, yesterday was ok but awhile ago error message prompted and I cannot start my Metastock.

Error message show, on the skin of the prompt dialogue read Metastock License Required and error message indicate File astsrv.exe is missing.

Help....me!!! plse..

silent installation

For enterprise environment I will need a silent installation for MetaStock 7.1installer (Installshield 5)

The setup.iss that I've recorded didn't work because of the custom license dialog that you used - It still appears when I install silent with -s and play the file with -f1

How can I get this dialog silent?

Cannot print charts

I'm using Metastock 10.1 on Vista64. I have an HP Laserjet 3030 that prints from many other programs on the same machine. When I try and print charts from Metastock, I get the following message:

"A default printer has not been defined. Use print setup to choose a printer"

The HP Laserjet appears in the print dialog box with all the printer's details. Also when I try to print preview, i get no dialog box and no preview.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

due to a hard disk problem recently I had to reinstall MS 10.1 Pro however during the installation an error occurred such as:
error occurred during the move data process - 119 ........MSWebResources.dll

Would appreciate some assistance as have bee using MS for years and MS 10 and 9.1 throw up the same problem.

Have just replaced hard disk and attempted to reinstall MS 10.1 EOD. When I try to open, I get "Unknown error # : -84" message and am unable to activate using License Manager.

I note similar thread from some time ago (http://forum.equis.com/forums/thread/28173.aspx) mentions same error and suggests upgrade to 10.1c solves problem. Also mentions a file that can be obtained to fix problem.

Can someone provide advice or appropriate file to fix problem.

Error 119 & error code 0x8002801c

Hi, I'm trying to install MS v10.1 EOD on Vista 64bit OS.

I received the error 119 message towards the end of installation. Now I've also tried running:

Click Start-->Run

-Type regsvr32 "C:\Windows\System32\ATL.DLL

However I then subsequently received the error code 0x8002801c message.

Then having scoured google for a fix, which in turn has not worked either. I tried running the regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\msxm14.dll as an administrator and I then received an error saying it could not load the module and to make sure that the binary is stored at the specific path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependant .DLL files.

I've also tried the Comdlg32.ocx command with the same error message - all run as the administrator.

Can you please help me......

Dear All,
Can anyone help me please? I am a newbie in Metastock.
When i am trying to install Metastock by either execute the Setup.exe or StartSetup.exe,
the system has pop-up a processing message which indicate that the setup is preparing the InstallShield wizard.

However, after this, there is no further process shown and Metastock still cannot be installed.
Can anyone help me please?

"FAILED TO SAVE" Cant save my smart charts!! or charts??? Help!

I cant seem to save my charts and its rather annoying!

For example in saving a smart chart it comes up with "Smart chart alreay exists, replace existing smart chart?" which I reply yes to, then it comes up with "failed to save document". If I hit save again straight away it then says " C164 Unable to register document, document may already be open"...It seems to save templates ok.

I recently reinstalled windows xp and its only happened since then. Before then it was fine. Ive reinstalled metastock but with no success.

Any clues ???

I am satyam from india and using Metastock 10 for last 1 year. I was actually converting my Intra-EOD data from ASCII to metastock while the error occured which was like "Error #908 : Adding record(s) would overflow file". I was converting 1 min Intra-EOD data into my metastock. Not getting any clue whr I am getting pissed off. Any light plz. thanx in advanced.
