Buy 1 XYZ at 1000 on stop limit. Good For Day

On that day XYZ trades at a high of 1000, I should be filled. Metastock does not take the trade. If the high is 1001 I get filled. I think this is a bug, if it is by design I think I will make a suggestion that it can be turned off.

The stop limit entry price begins the moment the order is considered. If your trade does not execute on that bar, then the good for day will expire.

You would either need to remove the good for day limitation, or execute the trade on the same bar as it is considered.

Re: Stop Limit Entry on days high

If I use Good Until Cancelled it fires the next day as prices trade higher. Even if this fixed the problem it is not what I want, this affects a lot of other trades as well. I think this is a bug in Metastock, the trade should of happened. Can Equis confirm if this is a known problem?

To make sure I understand how you're using it though, are you using the actual Stops tab, are you changing the Order Type in the Buy Order/Sell Order tabs (i.e. from Market to something else) or are you trying to write a stop through the formula language?

Stop Limit Entry on days high

Hi

I cannot get the EST to go long on a stop limit that is equal to the days high. It places the order but it expires. Does anyone know why? I assume it doesn't work for shorts on the low either.
