    :crabby: Search Index :crabby:

What can I say? The search area is continuously sucking... it is all but useless. As I see it, the problem is only going to get worse as more and more posts are added. Is this something that can be addressed? :crabby:

    Re: :crabby: Search Index :crabby:

We were getting some weird problems because of the search tables, I had to :gun: them ...
They are just about empty right now so yes the search is once again useless.
To be honest I don't know that I can make the search useful ever ... Maybe if we all decide on which forum we should index ... I don't know ... I will try to think about it.

I'm just going to be chronic...

Crap, this thing is killing me. :censored: WE NEED A SEARCH FUNCTION THAT WORKS! If phpBB can't cut it, let me know and we can consider other (working) alternatives.

Comeon, let's get this fixed. It gimps the forum so severely that it isn't even funny.

I have it on good authority that Patrick is on holiday in Marseilles for a week. He will be back after the weekend. Then you can growl at him about the search tables. :) It is just because we have so much content... you guys are just too smart, right??? :) M

Re: I'm just going to be chronic...

A suggestion might be to use Google search on this site. I use it on some of my web sites. It works great with phpBB forums. Google probably already indexes most of this board anyway. Google search gives you html code to place on your website {textbox, 2 radio buttons, and submit button}. The annoying part is that even when you search "your site" there is still some sponsored links at the top of the list and on the side, but the search does an excellent job of finding exactly what you are searching for on your site - even in phpBB forums. The members only area would probably not be indexed though if a PW is needed to view.

    Just a thought
