    Expert edit window invisible/offscreen (RESOLVED)

For some reason, I'm unable to view or use the Edit function with Expert Advisors.  When I click Edit on any Expert (whether or not it's password-protected), the window dims and I'm unable to proceed.

If I click the mouse, I get the Windows "error" ding sound.  If I type on the keyboard and hit Enter, the main Expert window un-dims and the expert is now shown renamed to those characters.  Instead, if I hit Escape, I'm back to the main Expert window with the Expert unchanged.

So it appears the Edit window is active, the cursor is in the Expert Name field and MetaStock thinks I'm editing it - I just can't see the window itself.

I've tried Alt-Tab to cycle through windows, tried Show Desktop to minimize all windows before opening MetaStock - the Edit window is still invisible.  It seems it's opening off the screen area dimensions.

I'm using MS 9.1EOD, WinXP SP3 and I do have an Nvidia multi-monitor setup with 4 displays in an inverted-T configuration.  I've tried moving MetaStock to the main (Display 1) screen; no effect.  Otherwise, MetaStock seems to be working fine for me.

Anybody have some hints, tips, Win tricks, utilities or MS ideas to move this window back into view?  Thanks.

As far as tricks go?  Alt-Spacebar then press the letter 'M' will usually enable the Move command that allows you to use the Arrow Keys on your keyboard to manually move the window.  Of course, since you do not know which direction that the expert window is, it may take some practice of moving it up/down/left/right before you see it.

You can reset the registry for MetaStock by holding Ctrl-Shift and double clicking the MetaStock shortcut.  Choose Yes when it asks "Are you sure you want to delete your user settings".  Note that this will reset many of the other options in the program (such as Load Options, anything under Tools-->Options, etc).

Re: Expert edit window invisible/offscreen (RESOLVED)

Thanks for your help, Justin.  Alt-Space-M just resulted in the same error "ding" when in the Expert edit mode, so I was unable to see if I could try manually moving the invisible window back into view.  Interestingly, attempting to edit a password-protected Expert would bring up the enter-password window as expected, then it would go back into invisible-window mode.

I previously had also tried using the Nvidia multiple-display tools (things like "open all new windows on current display" etc.) with no luck either.

So I finally resorted to doing the Ctrl-Shift MetaStock registry reset, and that fixed it just fine - the Edit window appears as it used to.  I was reluctant to do that, but it did the job and I didn't lose as many of my settings as I feared I would.

So, it's fixed and I appreciate the pointers.
