Hi Dimitris,This may be related to the Start/End times defined. In MetaStock, go to File, OpenRight click on $$EURUSDSelect PropertiesWhat are the times? If 12:00 AM - 12:00 AM, this is the problem. Open the tools menuSelect Update Symbol Database and restart MetaStock. This should give you the correct times. What version of MetaStock are you using?

You can often get around this message using the following logic where the number of periods is entered:lastvalue(x1 +Prev -Prev)
-
You will probably get an error, such as No importable files exist. You can import a 9.0 formula into 10, but not vice versa. MetaStock is backwards compatible, but it has no way to know of any changes that may happen in the future in regards to the formula language. This is why you cannot import a newer file into an older version.

If it hangs for more than 3 minutes, it is generally an FTP related problem.Reuters Datalink is in the process of upgrading. Contact support and see if it may be possible to be part of a Beta test for the new servers (let them know of the problems that you are experiencing...)

A custom TRIX can be written as follows:x:=9; {Periods in calc}x1:=Mov(c,x,e);x2:=Mov(x1,x,e);x3:=Mov(x2c,x,e);ROC(x3,1,%)You can change the periods, by changing the variable ''x''. You can then call this formula. for example if you named it TRIXcustom, you could write the formula as ...

One of the symbols being tested does not have the dates selected. For example, Jan. 1 is not a trading day and will give the same message.

MetaStock comes with this Expert Advisor, but unfortunately it is password protected, so there is no way to make this into an exploration. However, Pring does have this available on his site (How to Select Stocks Using MetaStock Plug-In)

If I had to guess, it is probably a scaling issues with the indicators.Right click on the Darvas indicators, select Scaling, select Merge with Scale on Right, then Click OK

{Buy}Dema(C,10) > Mov(C,10,S){SELL}Dema(C,10) < Mov(C,10,S)I hope it helps.

After fixing the Y axis to the desired settings, open the X Axis properties and check the Retain Scale option. Do not change the Dates in the X Axis once Retain Scale is checked, as it can have undesired results.

You can use the Convert function in The DownLoader to convert text data in to MetaStock data format. It would need to be formatted as follows:<Date>,<Open>,<High>,<Low>,<Last>,<Vol>,<O/I>12/26/2000,112.980000,113.740000,112.800000,113.730000,0,0

You can write them into an indicator(s) and then use the FML function in the Explorer to call the formula(s)

With Equities, they are always quoted in the currency from where the exchange is located. This is usually the case with Indices, as well, however they could have it in local currrency as well as US Dollar, depending upon what the index manufacturer provides. DataLink support can always let you know for sure.

This is generally due the Telephony service not running.Open the Start menuSelect RunType services.mscDouble click on telephonySet to Automatic or Manual and Start the service.Restart The DownLoader and these menu items should now be active.

There is an indicator built-in named the Relative Strength Comparative. You can simply drag this on to the chart and point it to the SPX for the desired symbol to compare to. You can also use the Insert, Security function to insert the SPX into your chart. Then choose to Save as a template (File, Save as, change the Save as type to Template or right
-
There is no way to set the color or style of an indicator in the formula language. Once the indicator is plotted, change the lines to the desired colors and File, Save As, change the Save as type to Template and give it a name (or can bepart of your default template).

In the Filter, enter the following (for Daily data):H>Ref(HHV(H,252),-1)

If you want to exit 3 number of bars after entering the trade...I would set an Inactivity Stop, setting it to 1000% (something it will not reach) and set periods to 3.
-
What type of Stop are you using (Breakeven, Max Loss, Profit, Inactivity, or Trailing)?Hate to ask...but, did you check the Longs and/or Shorts box?
-
Unfortunately, as this is a price style, there is no way to use it as a function. This is similar to 3 Line Break, Kagi and P&F. It would take a DLL to do this, similar to what was done with P&F, by Equis.

Hi Tailwag,You can increase the error limit to 25000. Many times this will allow the conversion to complete, before erroring out. You can then see the error message for the file.My guessis something in toe formatting of the source file or a simple option. Support can help you get going again.Depending on the type of data you are looking for, you ...

Are you exploring Local Data or DataOnDemand (DoD)? If DoD, who is your vendor? For example, if you are running a DoD exploration on daily data from eSignal, MetaStock can only get the data on their Historical server in an Exploration, while the chart gets this data and the current bar from the Data Manager.

This is indeed related to the activation software. Some PCs will change drive letter configurations when a removable drive is plugged in (even an ipod). This messes with the activation software, as to where to find the necessary information.

International symbols are not included in older versions of Metastock (these are included in the latest versions). On the equis.com support pages, you can find a file that installs all of the Asian symbol files, for Reuters DataLink (http://www.equis.com/customer/support/download/Symbols.aspx)After this file is installed, restart Metastock/The ...

Unfortunately, there is no way to configure this.Weekly is always the last day of the week (Friday or Saturday)Monthly is always the last day of the monthQuarterly is always the last day of March, June, Sept., or Dec.Yearly is always the last day of the year.

Contact Viratech regarding this issue. They will pass on the web login information to you, so the latest build can be downloaded.

This may be an issue with the Activation software.Go to Start, All Programs, Equis International, select License ManagerLicense the product, then try to start Metastock again

Rick,MetaStock Pro version 8 does not have the ability to connect to QuoteCenter to collect the RT data. You can upgrade to MetaStock Pro version 10.1 for QuoteCenter. With this version it will connect to the QuoteCenter data feed and then you can chart intraday data. Reuters DataLink does not supply intraday data, as it is only an EOD feed.
-
Otto,The community servers are no longer online. That functionality was removed in later versions of MetaStock (the version that you should be using, if running Vista...)
-
The DataLink symbol is .TNX for the 10 yr. yield (.TYX for the 30 and .FVX for the 5)
-
Are you using MetaStock EOD or Pro? EOD will not recognize intraday data files. The Downloader is the same in EOD and Pro, so it can recognize intraday data.
-
Hi Henry,Can you provide an example symbol? Are you trying to get exchange data (e.g. NYSE Total Volume) or economic data (CPI, etc.)?Are you signed up for the RDL Indices package?
