• Re: Installing MS 11

Thanks Justin. I deleted indicators several times until the new formulas installed. Probably a little over 100 formulas in total. Making a Packages folder did not solve the problem. I had to have an Equis tech support person operate my machine during installation; it became necessary to download a Microsoft utility to clean up my old installation

  • Re: Installing MS 11

Thanks. My QuoteCenter does not appear to have installed correctly. I use QuoteCenter to download a handful on end of day quotes and I get an error message that QuoteCenter is not available. Regarding my custom formulas, it appears that MS did not install new formulas, as the file size of MS 10 formulas and MS 11 formulas is the same. None of ...

While installing MS 11 for QuoteCenter I received the following error message. Error while renaming ''Packages'' folder @ C''\ProgramFiles\Equis\QuoteCenter\Packages Please correct before contiuning. Any ideas? In trying to work through this I appear to have installed MS but the QuoteCenter does not appear to be correctly installed. When ...

  • Re: newbie licensing issue

I don't know the particulars of copying an image, but I believe that you are allowed to install and run MS on two computers, such as home and office. If you want to transfer to a third computer, you need to transfer the license using the MS utility. If you had a hard drive crash on one computer and cannot recover the license, I am sure that Equis ...

  • Re: MetaStock 11

I was dissapointed to find out that the limit on the number of custom formulas has not been increased. I was told by the sales agent that few people have expressed concern about the limit on the size of the formula file.

  • Re: 2000 custom formula limit

It has been a long time since this topic was first discussed. As Equis continues to increase the number of plug-ins and add-ons it seems that it would be in their best interest, as well as ours, to solve the problem of the formula file size limit or at least to add back the ability to change the location of the formula files so that multiple ...

  • Re: **Official New Add-On Announcement**

On my third call to Equis the problem was solved. Though the first two calls resulted in my being told to reduce the number of formulas in my formula file, after I told the third support person that I thought that I had deleted the requisite number of formulas, I was asked which operating system I was using. When I said Vista, I was told to load ...

I called Equis support and was told that there are actually about 160 formulas, so I have additional formulas to delete. If and when I am successful I will post how many formulas there actually are.

  • Re: **Official New Add-On Announcement**

I am trying to install Tactical Trader. I received an error message stating that my formula file is full, a condition I was aware of. I deleted formulas until I had 1849 formulas in my formula file. Equis said that the add-on would install 47 formulas, but I counted 57 line studies in the user's manual. After deleting the formulas to get to 1849 ...

  • Re: metastock 10 upgrade and current indicator limit

Plenty of space to upgrade, perhaps, but no room for new formulas. We need a higher formula limit or a way to have separate folders for groups of indicators. I am presently working to eliminate duplicate formulas and many old formulas dating back to the early 90s when formulas were referenced by number and not name and things like multiple formulas

  • Re: 2000 custom formula limit

Well, I finally have begun the task of weeding out my formula file. I printed the formulas, which resulted in close to 600 pages of output and a sorely depleted toner cartridge. One thing that I noticed is that the 2000 formula limit must be somewhat arbitrary. Many of my older formulas are only a line or two while some of my current formulas are ...

  • Re: 2000 custom formula limit

Thanks johnl. I did as you suggested and it seems to have helped. Of interest is the fact that many of the explorer reports on my system could not be opened because a pop up message said that they were incompatible with the version of MS on my machine. Some reports were years old, so perhaps that was part of the problem.

Thanks hayseed. I still use my 4 year old laptop as my primary computer. I started with an IBM, 20 years ago, moved to a couple of Gateways, and 4 years ago moved to Compaqs, laptop and two desktops. They are not souped up systems, but very happy with them for the money. Most souped up systems seem to be geared towards gamers and multimedia. I ...

I have installed MS on a second computer so that I have a place to add new formulas. My primary computer, with its full formula file, reacts very slowly when I try to save a change to any of my custom formulas. Even simple formulas require about 4 minutes to save a minor change. My expert advisor button is also slow to open the first

  • Re: Length of a formula?

Thanks, I tried a similar formula and it did not work. I looked at the commentaries of canned experts that I have and did not find any with complex formulas. With your assurance, I looked again at my formula and found that I had a space where it did not belong and that fixed the problem.

So if a formula is too long, it could be written in the expert condition window? Also, I am writing my first expert and it seems that in the commentary section, the formula in the write if command must be a basic formula. Can't have multiple parts of a formula as is allowed in the condition tab of the signals section? I assume that ...

  • 2000 custom formula limit

Well, it had to happen. I was trying to install some new formulas and got the message that my formula file is full. Many of you must have hit the limit. Any suggestions on how to get around this without having to weed out formulas every time that I want to enter a new one?

My hard drive crashed this weekend. The good news is that I had backed up most of the drive within the last couple of weeks, though it is taking me days to get the new drive up to speed. I restored the MetaStock info from the backup drive but the new drive says that my MetaStock program is on a trial basis. Does anyone know which file, and where it

Bulkowski's program has an option tab to toggle between several different formats, and this is one that is available, so no conversion is necessary for Bulkowski's program. I convert a group of files each day for use with Bulkowski's program. The instructions in the downloader manual for doing so are fairly straightforward. You select the files in the folder, specify a file transfer location, but do not specify new file name when converting bulk files. Also, each day I convert and replace rather than append. 200 ...
